Customer Spotlight: Darren Arber, Halifax West End Golf Club

When Darren Arber first became Head Pro at the Halifax West End Golf Club in 2011, one of his first decisions was to install XPOS by Crossover Technologies, giving him the capability to run a profitable Pro Shop and create a loyal customer base.

Darren recognised that XPOS was more than an electronic till. Over the years he has worked to create a successful customer loyalty scheme – the Pro Shop Loyalty Club. The success of this initiative lies in the data that Darren has collected and inputted into his XPOS. Shoe size, brand preference and club type among other fields have meant that Darren can target specific offers to interested customers.

In his own words,

“I had 6 pairs of Adidas Adizero shoes –I sent them out on a special as I could pick customers based on their shoe size, and within half hour I’d sold them! A guy even phoned me on the beach from Spain to buy a pair!”

Darren also uses a host of other Crossover products to help him run his busy business. The XAPP stocktaking app allows him seamless stock taking whilst XCODES simplifies and improves accuracy of the process.

In this way, the XPOS system is at the centre of Darren’s business.

“I hold weekly meetings with my team and run reports from our XPOS to see how we are getting on. The dead stock report showed me that some stock has been with me for some time. But knowing this means that I can take action. I target particular products and put them in a prominent position in my shop rather than selling them at a discount and losing margin.”
