Tony Mealing on Why XPOS Caddie is a Hit with Members
The Kendleshire Golf Club, near Bristol, is home to Head PGA Professional, Tony Mealing, who came on board to help with the testing phase of the XPOS Caddie app in November 2020.
"XPOS Caddie is already a great addition to my business and I'm 100% happy with it. Lockdown has been a good opportunity to set up my new online shop, familiarise myself and also market the app to my members and customers.
Golfers can be lazy shoppers who might not spend much time browsing around the shop. But, everyone is happy to spend time on their phones, looking through products to buy. Having the XPOS Caddie app linked to my shop means that customers can see what you have in stock straight away so it puts you in the same league as the larger ecommerce retailers. If a customer wants a product, you're in the marketplace straight away.
The fact that my members can see their account balance has been a surprising bonus to me, and I can see members really want that feature.
I love the fact I can send push notifications from the Hub directly to everyone who has the app. I have a delivery coming in this week so I plan to broadcast the new stock and direct people to the Reserve & Collect area of the app. It's an invaluable communication tool.
The feedback from members has been amazing. They love it. They've commented on how professional the app is and some have even asked me how I built it! "Took me ages", I say.
I launched the app on my social media channels and a lot of members downloaded it from that activity. The Club also promoted the app in one of the weekly newsletters and over 100 members acted after that.
The XPOS Caddie needs a customer email address in XPOS in order to connect the member with my pro shop and I didn't realise how out of date my data was. After the Club's email, around 70 members contacted me to say they couldn't get on the app and had to provide me with their new email address, which has been great. A much-needed data cleansing exercise!
Everytime I get in a new product, I plan to post this on my social channels (mainly Facebook) with a link to download the app, "Why not pre-book your Footjoy shoes on our new app?" I'm also using leaflets in store so customers can just scan the QR code to download the app. Roll on reopening! I can't wait.
